SpaceNet works with Google Cloud for better IT security

Internet pioneer and managed service provider SpaceNet AG is now working with Google Cloud. SpaceNet is adding the Google Cloud Chronicle Security Operations Suite to its IT security portfolio, enabling companies in the DACH region to detect, investigate and defend themselves against cyberattacks more quickly - thanks to the speed, scalability and precision of Google Cloud paired with the expertise of SpaceNet's IT security experts.

IT departments are now monitoring and protecting increasingly complex, sometimes hybrid, multi-cloud structures. However, the number, sophistication and increasing level of automation of cyber attacks makes it impossible to detect threats without automated control mechanisms. This is because collecting large amounts of data, storing it in formats that can be evaluated and analysing the log data can be costly and time-consuming. In addition, there is a lack of IT security specialists and solutions in many companies.

Thanks to the partnership between the traditional provider SpaceNet and Google Cloud, companies can increase their IT security and protect themselves against phishing attacks, encryption or the collapse of their IT systems due to cyber attacks. This is particularly relevant for companies that are highly dependent on the functioning of their corporate IT, whose processes such as ordering, purchasing, production, delivery and billing are fully electronic and digitalised or that store sensitive customer data.

Google Cloud's ability to search huge amounts of data quickly and accurately is combined with the many years of expertise of SpaceNet's IT security team to create a powerful IT security solution. SpaceNet offers these security services for companies as a Security Operation Centre (SOC). A team of experts continuously monitors the customer's IT infrastructure, recognising and thwarting cyber security incidents as early as possible. It knows the needs of customers and their data protection and compliance requirements and develops customised security concepts with attack detection and response strategies - thus relieving the burden on the company's internal IT department.

"In IT security, time is everything. The faster companies react and recognise threats, the better chance they have of limiting the damage. Itis important to store and analyse as much data as possible from as many sources as possible, a task for which the cloud is virtually predestined," explains Sebastian von Bomhard, founder and CEO of SpaceNet AG.

"Our customers entrust us with their sensitive data, which we have always protected in the best possible way. We specifically decided in favour of the partnership with Google. A large partner has the decisive advantages in these areas. The almost unlimited storage options, combined with amazingly fast access routines, help to defend against attacks."

Chronicle was developed to process huge amounts of data and utilises the speed and scalability of the Google Cloud. Log sources can be integrated across manufacturers using various collection methods. Chronicle is scalable so that companies can economically store large amounts of data over a longer period of time. Retrospective analyses are also possible, for example to identify zero-day attacks in the past.

The Chronicle solution is very flexible and open to other providers. Components from different manufacturers can be connected quickly and easily. It is even possible to integrate your own proprietary software solutions. All connected systems transfer their log data to Chronicle. There, the data is collected, correlated and analysed centrally. Thanks to the almost unlimited resources in the cloud, the solution can store huge amounts of data and search through petabytes in a matter of seconds.
